Title: John-John, Bill G. and others
Music du jour: My collection of Xena mp3's

It's a lovely Friday afternoon, and nobody in the Resolution Center is working, including me. That's about all I can say. I don't really have anything to write about today (since I'm trying to avoid thinking about the fact that my parents and in-laws both arrive this afternoon -- ARGH), so I'm probably going to ramble about anything that comes into my head. Here goes. *ahem*

Okay. John-John. Damn shame about him and Carolyn, and her sister, of course. I've been trying to hide in a gopher hole the last two weeks, so I haven't been watching any of the news, but does it seem to anyone else that the media is tying itself up in knots again over this whole thing? They did it with Princess Diana and Mother Theresa, and now, of course, they're hyperventilating over poor JKF Jr. I hear nasty rumors Dan Rather or someone was actually crying on the evening news over the whole deal. Okay, I'm sorry that Jack died too, but ya know, I don't know that I'd cry over it. It's hard for me to get that worked up about some rich white guy who I didn't know personally and whose supposed "royalty" status never impressed me all that much. Don't misunderstand; I don't necessarily have anything against the Kennedy family as a whole or Jack in particular, but a lot of people are moping around because "Camelot has fallen!" I'm too young to remember the halcyon heyday of JFK, which probably has something to do with it.

Still and all, it's a shame. The man had everything -- including Carolyn Bessette, I might add, which is an accomplishment right there. I'm about to go in with these 'Net nuts and their conspiracy theories about the Kennedy clan, though. Is it just me or the do the male Kennedies seem to have a curse on them? If it's not a curse, they have the worst damn luck I've ever seen...

Okay. Random link of the day: Cult of the Dead Cow pointing out Microsoft's hypocrisy, as they are wont to do. The latest bullshit being spewed from Mickeysoft is their claim that BackOrifice 2000 has no redeeming features whatever, because it can be installed and run on a user's system without their knowledge. (Quickly, BO2K is remote control software that takes advantage of some known Windows security holes. Microshit refuses to patch or even acknowledge these security flaws.) Meanwhile, Microsquash's $1000+ Systems Management Server does the same thing as BO2K, only not as well. Heh. Did I mention BO2K is open source software? Microshaft, just do us all a favor and give up on trying to imitate real security and server software, okay? Please?

Three words for you: Lego, Lego, Lego!
