Title: A random Thursday kind of day
Music du jour: Poe, Hello
Random link o' the day: the iGeek computer

Two more days til Cynthia gets here. Dammit, the week only goes slowly when I'm waiting on something.

New page on Penguin Dust: Short Japanese Poetry. No, wait... before you leave in disgust, let me assure you this is NOT breaking the No Poetry Rule. Really. Go visit it and contribute. Be a pal.

Man, Poe is sufficiently weird for me today. She came recommended from Mike, who was so kind as to contribute to my music collection. If you want ska or generally weird shit, Mike's your man. He's responsible for my affinity for Delerium, Reel Big Fish, and occasionally Prodigy. I don't know WHERE he digs up some of the stuff he listens to. It's very cool.

More mortgage fun. Basically, the mortgage company can't decide whether or not we've paid them for two months. (Note to Mom and other concerned parties: We have.) They sent our July payment back to us because we didn't make it out to the right people, even though that's who they told us to make it out to. Despite the fact that I have the check and letter sitting on my kitchen table, they told us they never sent it back, calling me a liar in so many words. Idiot children. I'm more than half tempted to go with one of those Money Store type places that will put your mortgage and your debts into one big-ass payment. That'll show my mortgage company. I'll be taking my very lucrative loan ELSEWHERE, thankyouverymuch. So there.

Aren't I fun when I get childish? :) I knew you'd think so. Carry on.

Oooh, I forgot: Ian had a JOB INTERVIEW today. And there was MUCH rejoicing. It's for a PFY position -- for you non-BOFH types, that's a junior Unix admin trainee. He's supposed to know by the middle of next week, but according to the pimp^H^H^H^Hrecruiter, the company looks like they really want him. And the interview went well. Yay. Hopefully it'll pan out. The nicest thing about this company is they're NOT in the Tech Center.

Dammit, I'm hungry. I think I'm going to shunt this off and go find some food. I had some lovely bacon and eggs this morning ( mmm, bacon), but it seems to have worn off. Damn my bottomless stomach. I really can tuck away a frightening amount of food when I put my mind to it. Maybe that's why my geek gut has taken on a life of its own.

News flash: The Oxford English Dictionary is looking for new words.
