Title: Back to being a vampire, at least for a week
Woo hoo. I'm on night shift this week. Remember when my group went to rotational shifts? Yup... my rotation is up. Dammit. I still think Billy and I should be exempt, considering how long we were both on nights, but whatever. The only thing I'm fussed about is trying to get Friday night off; Ian and I were planning on going to Kansas to see his dad and Cynthia. I think Billy will cover for me. My hero. I'll owe him a case or something if he does.
Speaking of Billy, he has the coolest hat now. Everyone in the group has queue time, which means they have to watch for new tickets coming into the group, which fall into different queues depending on what the problem is. We've taken to calling the on-duty queue person the "queue bitch." Billy got a baseball cap this weekend and had "Q Bitch" airbrushed on the front. I about fell out laughing when I saw it. He grinned and said, "This created quite the stir in the group this morning." Supposedly my boss got a chuckle out of it, but if the Big Boss Bitch sees it, there's no telling what will happen. Heh heh heh. The things we do to amuse ourselves around here. I tell ya.
So, I AM trying to get to Kansas this weekend for Labor Day. Last year I worked on Labor Day. I didn't bother to sign up this year, because I need the break. I think I worked about 50 hours last week, as opposed to my normal 40. I know, boo-hoo. Hey, I never claimed not to be a lazy shit. :) But work is getting to me again, so I'm going to take some time and visit with Ian's family and Cynthia. It's always good for me to get away. I think Ian could use the break, too; he hasn't taken any time off since he started his new job. Plus, it's always nice to see Bart and Margit... and the dog, of course.
And on the home front, it looks like it's reunion time with ALL my friends. Tabor (my first boyfriend and dear friend -- he of the PPinto) wrote me this weekend for the first time in months. It was great hearing from him, finally. Then a couple of days ago, a friend from high school sent me e-mail out of the blue. Nikki and I used to hang out after Ruston High football games. She was the weirdest person I knew, which is why we got along so well. *grin* Of course, the fact that I was the only senior her parents trusted her, as a freshman, to hang out with helped matters... we were able to get away with more. Not that we ever did anything our parents wouldn't approve of.. oh, nooo... *innocent whistling*
I went to see Phantom Menace this afternoon. Again. I'm just shameless.
