Title: DJ Barnabas is in the house... literally

Oh dear.

The resident DJ is back, y'all.

The DJ is our friend Jim, who was Ian's roommate when they were stationed at Eglin AFB, way back in the day. He goes by the notorious nomenclature of DJ Barnabas when he's spinning. (Find his home on the Web here.) After Jim and Ian split from the Air Force, Ian started wandering around with me, and Jim went back to his native Vermont to work at a Very Big Corporation whose initials rhyme with IBM. Eventually we talked him and his roommate, Carl, into moving out to Colorado Springs to hang out with us and make some real money.

Well, Jim ended up holing up in our spare bedroom in early 1998, due to one thing and another, so we had our own pet DJ for a couple of months. That was a lot of fun... even though it was a very tumultuous time for Ian and me, because of unemployment and money problems, we had a damn good time with Jim there. He would spin techno and we would all drink Fat Tire with the lights off, and watch the snow fall in the back yard. It was great.

Then Jim got a girlfriend.

I won't go into the gory details... it involved a husband and two kids, and most of his friends wondered what aliens had come down and kidnapped the real Jim and replaced him with a pod person. He moved out and effectively disappeared from our lives for about a year. We had pretty much written him off as MIA.

Then Ian showed up last weekend with a big grin and a long-lost buddy. Jim was back. We all went out to eat steak and catch up on our lives. The short story is the boy came to his senses, finally, and after a weekend of eating steak and drinking beer with us, he decided to ditch the bitch. So as to speak.

So it looks like he'll be moving back in with us as soon as he can extricate himself from his current living situation with his girlfriend. Schaweet. At least the aliens gave his brain back.

To quote the DJ:

<DJB-Work> just say that I was sucked into a world of lust, power, greed,
           sexual pleasure and manipulative womanhood.
<DJB-Work> and I'm BACK!
