Title: Leap Day entry, be impressed
Music du jour: KBCO

Oooh, Ahhh

Since I didn't have an entry for New Year's, I figured I should at least make it up by having a Leap Day entry. In case you are unaware, this only happens once every 400 years. Not having Leap Day, but having it on a century year. Normally, Leap Day occurs every four years, except on a century year. This rule is broken every 400 years. So the last time it happened was 1600, and the next time will be 2400. Pretty nifty, eh? Well, I thought so. Let's hear it for the Gregorian calendar.

Moving On, In More Ways Than One

Another house update. We looked at a little brick ranch house in Longmont today at lunch. This one looks like it has possibilities. It's not huge at 1100 square feet, but it does have three bedrooms and a back yard. One of the bedrooms, which I suspect was a child's room at some point, has bright blue walls. BRIGHT blue, I say. I doubt Bill is going to want to lay claim to it, and Ian was squinting, so that may become the art room. Although how I'm supposed to paint with all that BLUE surrounding me, I'm not sure. I may have to buy a few gallons of white paint and do a slapdash paint job to tone it down. Not that I have anything against blue, but ick... I couldn't paint there. It would affect everything I do, color-wise, and I suspect any paintings would just look strange when seen under normal light.

The house has charm, though. The stove is a genuine antique General Electric, and it's pink, as is the sink. (Hey, I made a funny.) The place has hardwood floors throughout. Nice. Makes it easier to clean up cat yack, you know. Don't you love my priorities?

The car is performing much better; we may actually get decent mileage out of this tank. Now that we've gotten all the cylinders firing (and new spark plugs, and a new timing mechanism, and a new oxygen sensor, and new spark plug wires), it's time for... the brakes! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I will never see my car again! It is going to be in the shop for the rest of my natural-born life. Guh. Ian did get part of his bonus this week; hopefully that will take care of the brake thing. It goes in the shop -- again -- tomorrow morning. I so owe Bill a fifth of Cuervo... he's been letting us take his car into work for a couple of weeks when ours was languishing in mechanic Hell. The brakes needed doing anyway, especially since we have a Kansas road trip this weekend. We've got a couple of clients out in East Bumfuck, so we're killing four birds with one stone and going to see Cynthia while we're at it. Now all I have to do is get Friday off.
