Title: Notify me, baby

Hearing: Various Artists, Clerks Soundtrack
Feeling: Hungry and ready for supper
Reading: Perl for System Administration, David N. Blank-Edelman
SleepySkin, another Web journal, by CourtHo
The current Linux Journal

I have to make this quick, because it's past time for me to go home. Basically, this is an update to let y'all know about my notify list. I even have a cute little subscription box for your shopping convenience. You should notice it at the bottom of the page below the Entry O' the Day. See? There it is. Point and drool. If you'd like to be notified whenever I update Penguin Dust, put your e-mail addy in the box and click away. It's easy and I won't send you porno spam. Unless you like that, of course.

Today I converted to the dark side: I installed qmail. Fear, revulsion, pain! Well, not really. Actually, I'm kinda digging it so far. My Master Plan(tm) is to install some monitoring tools to make my life slightly easier, which will eventually involve an email-capable on-call pager to notify the sysadmin when the systems misbehave. (Ewww!) And if I'm going to install an MTA from scratch, it ain't gonna be sendmail. I'm not that masochistic.

I got paid today, so it was SoftPro time for marcie. Yes. Managing to restrain myself was difficult, but I was supremely disciplined and only bought Stopping Spam, Perl for System Administration, and the new Linux Journal. I'm very proud of me. And since I don't have to make credit card payments this week, I actually have some money left over to buy groceries and (gasp!) put into savings. Don't tell anyone, but I'm getting all responsible and shit.

Trivia point: four years ago today I graduated from college.
